Current research is in the field of science education, especially at
middle and high school levels, and has been focused on the following
areas:

relations between curricula and pedagogic practices.
Brief Bio
- Middle and high school teacher of Biology and Geology subjects, since
2001. Scientific and technical assessor at National Council of Education
since 2013. Invited Adjunct Professor in the School of Education,
Setúbal Polytechnic Institute, in 2015/2016.
- Researcher of the ESSA Group – Sociological Studies of the Classroom –
since 2005 and associate chair of the same group since 2016.
Collaborator of the Science Methods research group at the UIDEF –
Research and Development in Education and Training Unit – of the
Institute of Education, University of Lisbon.
- Author and co-author of several publications in the fields of
classroom learning, curriculum development, nature of science, and
practical work.
- Awards: BES award by the School of Sciences, University of Lisbon, for
the best classification in the undergraduate degree in Biology and
Geology Teaching (2002); Instituto de Educação/Caixa Geral de Depósitos
award for the PhD degree in Education, specialization in Science Methods
(2014).
